Dawn Stewart
Candidate for Chair

DawnStewart.pngDr. Dawn Stewart has been a member of the Democratic party since shortly after receiving her US Citizenship in 1972. She votes in the state of Virginia and has worked through various election cycles mobilizing the Caribbean-American Vote. Dawn has been persistent in organizing the formation of the Democrats Abroad Guyana Country Committee. 

Dawn has proudly served as a member of the US Air Force and has enjoyed a rich and diversified career working in federal, local, nonprofit, and educational settings.  She serves as CEO for New Dawn consulting LLC and co-manages Lyken Newburg Funeral home. 

Dawn has organized several endeavors such as Caribbean Days on Capitol Hill, National Caribbean HIV/AIDS Day, and Soca De Vote; and assisted in the forging of the passage of the National Caribbean Heritage Month.

As a well-respected leader, Dawn participated in legislative forums addressing various issues that led to many initiatives and the establishment of special projects that empower marginalized Caribbean communities both nationally and internationally. Dawn is prepared and well equipped to serve as Chair of Democrats Abroad Guyana. 

 

Lawrence London
Candidate for Vice-Chair

LawrenceLondon.pngLawrence London, or Larry as he is familiarly called, has been a registered Democrat since 1992, and has worked in election  campaigns since then in Florida. Larry is a retired aviation professional, in both operations and administration. Here in Guyana, Larry was presented with the national Golden Arrow of Achievement (AA) award. The Guyana Defense Force also named its aviation base, Air Station London, in honor of Lt. Col. London. 

Larry is passionate and committed to the struggle for “voters’ rights” and equality for every American. Larry is ready and able to act in the position of Vice-Chairman.

 

Mark Archer
Candidate for Secretary

Mark Anthony Archer is a Guyanese - American writer and life-long member of the Democratic Party. He served as Director of Communications in the office of the President of Guyana, 2015-2020. Mark was awarded the Golden Arrow of Achievement (AA), by the government of Guyana, for his exceptional service in the field of public information. Mark worked on the 2008 Obama Campaign and is passionate about protecting voting rights for minorities, and advocating for social justice and human rights. 

With over four decades of political advocacy and community work, Mark is well prepared and ready to contribute his extensive expertise to Democrats Abroad Guyana’s Executive Committee as Secretary.

 

Fitzroy David Corlette
Candidate for Treasurer

FitzroyDavidCorlette.jpgFitzroy David Corlette is a Guyanese - American Accountant. He has been a registered Democrat since 1992. He is the holder of an MSc Education and BBA Accounting from Baruch College in New York. 

Fitzroy was actively involved in Democratic Party politics in Queens, New York during the 1990’s. An activist and student of politics, Fitzroy worked as the Finance Director for the David Granger 2011 and 2015 Presidential Campaigns in Guyana, and continues to manage the finances for A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).

From 2015 - 2018 Fitzroy served as a Deputy Commissioner in charge of Law Enforcement at the Guyana Revenue Authority. As an Accountant for several decades, he taught Accounting at the Dekalb Technical College in Georgia for seventeen years.  

Fitzroy is qualified and ready to bring his expertise to the position of Treasurer for Democrats Abroad Guyana.
